Our first Saturday in Italy we took the Metropolitana to the downtown area called Mergellina. We took a nice walk down to the Villa Comunale where there is a park along the water front. There is a lot of neat little rides for small children, jungle gyms and a small outdoor roller skating rink. Here is also where the oldest aquarium in Europe is located. I hear it isn't very advanced but interesting because of it's antiquity and great for children. Unfortunately, they were closed for renovations. We enjoyed a slice of pizza at an outdoor cafe and enjoyed watching the Italian families together. </div> <div> Later we walked further into the city to the Galleria Umberto with it's iron and glass domes and upscale shops.
